Hairy Who & the Chicago Imagists

In 2016, Pentimenti Productions approached Studio 424 with the goal of creating a website to help promote the release of their art documentary–Hairy Who & the Chicago Imagists, which traces the chicago-based art movement known as “Imagism,” defined by the work of artists like Ray Yoshida, Roger Brown, Jim Nutt, Barbara Rossi and others.

We set out to design and build a web experience that attempted to express and pay homage to the movement’s visual sensibility. We created 5 “vignettes” that were playful, visually rich, and fun, and that explored the key individuals, inspiring objects, major milestones, and context of the movement.
